advice my mother gave me when i was in junior high has been looping in my mind lately. i'd just had my heartbroke for the first time and my mother told me; "you can't show up at school with teary eyes and a sad look on your face tomorrow. you have to go to school looking great, happy, and wearing a smile. don't let him know he got to you. even if he did, don't give him the satisfaction of knowing it." today, my friend francesca did a blog about people who try to get under your skin. the blog includes an illustration (above) that she recently did just to vent.
right after reading her blog i checked my horoscope for today: "Before you allow someone's nasty words or inconsiderate actions to make you fly off the handle today, opt for another reaction -- try ignoring them. Walk on, and let yourself worry about the real problems you may or may not be having right now. The jerks who try to muck up your day (although thankfully there should be only one such jerk) are not your problems to solve. Their lives are sad and unrewarding, and that is their punishment. Keep your head high and keep smiling."
word.
